User Reviews: Trader Joe's Next to Godliness Dish Soap

I love this dishwashing liquid. All those mainstream kinds that derive their fragrance (and their suds, and everything else about them) from weird chemicals smell terrible to me now - and the scent clings to my hands and sponge for ages.
Fortunately, Trader Joe's would never do that to me. When I use this dish soap, I don't have to worry about friends with chemical sensitivities. Or what weird invisible residue I might be eating off the plate afterwards. It comes in lavender and in orange; I think the orange one is particularly effective on grease, but that might just be my perception because I know that orange oil is great for that. Both smell good; not too strong, just a pleasant smell that comes from essential oils.
The best part about this soap, in my opinion, is that it makes FANTASTIC bubble bath. I toyed with a long line of costly bubble bath gels and foams and balls before this, always struggling to find one that didn't have weird chemicals and didn't cost a ton of money. I finally had to admit that none of them stood up to Trader Joe's dish soap.
A few squirts make a nice long-lasting foam; a lot of squirts make a huge foam head on the bathtub. And it's ridiculously cheap at three dollars a bottle. I could never find regular old bubble bath in a bottle this size, and certainly not at the same cost and with the same big white fuzzy piles of bubbles. And it lasts a long time... at least, until I get in the bathroom with it!
reviewed May 18, 2008 at 9:02 am I haven't used this soap in a while because I don't get to Trader Joe's very often, but I really liked it when I had it. The lavender scent is nice and light, the soap is very effective, and it's biodegradable and doesn't have weird chemicals. It's also nice and cheap, and makes lots of suds, which I like. The only downside is that you can only get it at Trader Joe's. They need to hurry up and build one near my house!
It's the only thing I use on my dishes now! Gotta LOVE Trader Joes!
Both my husband and I are sensitive to chemical perfumes--a majority of scents make us feel headachey and nauseous. No fun. In particular, Dawn and Joy have scents that instantly make me sick. But this soap doesn't. It has a fresh citrus scent that seems very natural. It's not overpowering either, just pleasant. I love this soap.
Out of laziness, I put it in a hand soap pump near the kitchen sink, so I only have to refill and clean around one bottle of soap. I use it for hand washing and dishwashing. It does a fine job of both, and doesn't seem to dry out my hands at all.
