User Reviews: Seventh Generation Chlorine-Free Ultra Thin Pads With Wings
All User Reviews
The Seventh Generation pads are about as exciting as any other menstrual product. And by that, I mean they are not exciting. They're fine. They're not bad. They work. (insert shoulder shrug here.)
As a straight pad, they're OK. More or less like the basic Always with Wings I used to use before I went for the chlorine-free guys. They're maybe not quite as absorbant but I haven't exactly done a scientific test. One thing I did like with the Always pads is that on the little plastic wrapper, there's a sticky thing so when you're disposing of the pad, you can wrap it up in the wrapper and stick it shut. No such luck with the Seventh Gens. You just have to either carefully open the wrapper so you can have sort of a pouch for disposal...stick it straight into the trash...or else, you end up wrapping it in toilet paper or something, resulting in more waste sadly.
Let's talk about the waste for a second. They're the same as any other pad. Plastic bag with a perforated seam. Plastic wrappers. Disposable. You're still sending more trash to the landfill. I still haven't gotten quite to the point where I'm looking to try cloth pads. So these will do in the interim. But I figure they're a stepping stone. And at least they're chlorine free.
reviewed August 3, 2008 at 12:08 pm I gave these a try because I wanted a non-chlorine bleached option. They feel like a regular pad with a cloth like cover. They are as thin but I have the impression that they are not as absorbent. I have to change more often, otherwise there are "accidents".
I am also bothered by the fact that there is too much plastic involved in the packaging and the pad itself.
reviewed July 25, 2008 at 4:05 pm I use these as extra protection 'just in case' with my diva cup during the heavier part. I really like having a chlorine free option for this. I am fairly sure that the main reason 'that time of month' use to be so terrible was because of chemicals in stuff.
