Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing Wilder Wheat

Wilder Wheat

Organic Wilder Wheat is an American Style Hefeweizen. On St. Patrickπs Day, 2006, a small group of brewers and judges selected Dave Bossie as winner of the first HomeBrew to ProBrew contest for his American Hefeweizen. This was a first for homebrewer, Dave Bossie, but Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing fell in love with the vanilla aromas and creamy body of his recipe. It quickly became a hit at the tasting bar, as a refreshing yet full bodied beer, with lots of character. Dave Bossie chose the name, åWilder Wheat,π inspired by the historic Santa Cruz location, Wilder Ranch, just down the street from the brewery. The rest, as they say, is beer history. We hope you enjoy.

A Beer For All Seasons
andiforker reviewed February 25, 2009 at 5:04 pm

Wilder Wheat is truly a beer for all seasons. You could drink it while eating a giant chicken pot pie, wearing a shetland sweater, belly up to the pub. But it also has a lightness to it. Think summer beers on the patio with some salsa and chips. It goes both ways... and I have never said that about a beer.

I like that it is from the Santa Cruz Mountains, near the Bay Area. So the beer isn't trucked across the country, exhuming lots of carbon into the air. And, in my mind, I think the water is purer up in the Santa Cruz mountains. My dad's an aggressive home brewer--so I know that water quality is important. You can't have too much of this element or too much of that.

If only I could find Wilder Wheat at my corner store in the Inner Richmond. But I guess it is worth looking a little harder for the Wilder Wheat guy.

Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing Wilder Wheat

I was at the Taste of Green party the other night. I'm not an organic green guy. I was worried how the word organic would change the taste of this wheat beer. Well, it didn't and I loved it. I would buy this product.
