Easy to use stain remover that prevented me from ruining clothes due to red wine, beet stains, general dirt on collars and cuffs, and other (mostly food) related stains. You just have to wet the stain (the only minorly annoying part, since sometimes if you get water outside of the stained are, you can lose track of where the stain actually is) and then rub the applicator and product onto the stain. Then you throw the item into your laundry basket and clean normally next time you do wash. It has made some of my clothes as good as new again, even from older stains, which I found very surprising.
reviewed August 7, 2008 at 2:08 pm Okay, so in full disclosure...I've only used this stain remover once. And I bought it with the express purpose of using it on a hoody that had a mysterious stain on it (mysterious in that I put it in the washing machine and pulled it out...expecting it to be clean...but instead I found that it had been bled on or who knows what).
In any case, the hoody in question had already been dried so whatever dye that bled in the washing machine had already set. I was rather sad as the hoody was new! So I picked up some Ecover Stain Remover at my local Whole Foods. I kept forgetting every time I came home from work so the hoody sat in a corner waiting some love n care for a good two weeks, at least. Last week, I finally remembered!
So I got to work. I applied my stain remover...scrubbed it up...let it sit. And popped it back in the wash. Well, the stain isn't entirely out but it's pretty darn close. I am of the opinion that if you didn't know where it was, you probably wouldn't see it. Not too shabby for biodegradable stain remover.
Oh and it smells good. So that's a plus.
UPDATE: Two weekends ago, I had a bit of a bad thing happen in my mom's car....my brother gave me two baskets full of strawberries. Sadly, I didn't realize that one basket had a strawberry getting squished at the bottom. Unawares, I put both baskets on the passenger seat. And yes, you betcha. It got strawberry juice (nice bright red) all over the seat apholstry. I was not pleased. In any case, as soon as I got home, I heated some water, poured it on the stain, took my handy Ecover stain remover and rubbed it on, poured more water on, and rubbed with a towel. And amazing! Like magic, all traces of strawberry juice were gone. I still told my mom though.
I think this stain remover works pretty well on blood, but not as well on ground in mud or dirt. It has a non-offensive scent which is nice. I like the eco-friendly ingredients. Overall I'd recommend this.
