A gentle plant derived shampoo specifically formulated to use everyday on young skin. In one step you can cleanse deeply and help to make hair unattractive to head lice; excellent peace of mind when a high probability of head lice exposure exists. The probability of head lice exposure increases during warmer weather (>20°c), contact in the classroom, active outbreaks, school camps or sleepovers, etc. It is suitable for use by the whole family.
Prevent contains no artificial preservative, colouring or fragrance. It is readily biodegradable and waterway friendly.
What it does:
Prevent shampoo gently cleanses the hair without damaging the sensitive balance of natural oils on the scalp. This is achieved by using a solvent dry-cleaning action instead of a detergent action.
eco.kids primary cleansing system is our botanical cleansing complex which is derived from 100% pure essential oils.

reviewed May 19, 2009 at 7:15 am Worked as it should, cleaned kids hair. It had a pretty good fragrance that most kids shampoos we've used lacked (we usually just use Johnson and Johnsons). It seems a bit thicker, so it took a few more rinses to get out, but their hair looked good.
My only beef, and this i just a personal preference, is that it is just shampoo, not a shampoo/conditioner combo, which adds another process to the bathroom routine. Our kids hate getting their hair washed, so doing it twice, once for shampoo and once for conditioner is a bit challenging.
This shampoo is a basic shampoo-it does everything you need from a shampoo to clean your hair and get rid of any grease. However, if you don't like the smell of Eucalptys, which is what it smells like to me, I advise you stay away from this product.
reviewed May 5, 2009 at 7:38 am This product is really hard for me to review. I received a sample for my kids to use since this is a product aimed at children. Their response was less than enthusiastic. The 13 y/o boy said before he even used it that it "smelled weird" and they should make "manly scents". I just rolled my eyes and said "use it!". The 9 y/o girl said that it smelled "different". As a mother the product just smells like most natural hair care products, kind of lemony and herbie at the same time. It smells fresh and clean to me.
When the kids did use it the product, being sulphate free, it didn't suds up like they were used too. Therefore they felt that it didn't clean well. I asked them if their hair squeaked when they rinsed it and they both said that it did. Thus, the product cleans very well. Even though it is marketed for children, I used it to see what it was like and it cleaned very good even without the suds.
As for being able to prevent lice, I have no idea if this is true of not. I figure it certainly won't hurt to use if there is a problem in your school or town.
Bottom line--Would I buy this product in the future? If my kids were little and thought natural shampoos were the "normal" kind, I would buy it. Since my kids both complained about it I wouldn't buy it again for my house. I think it is a good product and would NEVER tell someone not to give it a shot. If they had an adult line of products I would think about buying it for myself.
