How much does the EEM cost?


Only 99 Enertia Carbon Limited models will be produced.  This motorcycle will be hand-built and serialized and will feature an aluminum chassis, carbon fiber body panels and fenders, plus a leather seat for $14,995.   

The Enertia Standard motorcycle will feature an aluminum chassis, injection molded plastic body panels and fenders, plus a durable vinyl seat for $11,995.    

     

When will the EEM be available?


The Enertia Carbon Limited model will be delivered approximately 6 months earlier than the Enertia Standard model.  The Enertia Standard model will be available before the end of 2008.

 

What countries will the EEM be available in?


The EEM will be available in the US initially.  Launch dates for other countries will be announced when they are available.

 

Where can I buy an EEM?


Initially orders will be taken through our website at http://www.enertiabike.com/component/option,com_contentform/Itemid,36.  Distributors will be announced at a later date.

 

What is the range of the EEM?


The maximum range for a single charge will be 45 miles assuming a constant speed on flat terrain.  The “real world” range is ~35 miles in urban traffic.   

 

How do you charge the EEM?


The EEM is recharged by plugging it into any standard US wall outlet.  The EEM will come with a charging cord that is stored underneath the seat.

 

How long does it take to charge the EEM and how much will it cost?


The EEM will be fully recharged in about 3 hours.  It will cost approximately 40 cents per charge based on US residential rates – or about 1 cent per mile.

How often do the batteries need to be replaced?  


The batteries are designed to last for 35,000 miles or about 10 years.

 

What happens to the batteries when they are used up?


Lithium ion batteries are the most recyclable batteries in the world.  Over 90% of the components can be broken down and reused in other ways or they can be kept in their current state to service solar cell energy banks or computer network back-up systems.

 

What’s the top speed of the EEM?


The EEM will achieve a top speed of over 50 mph (80 kph).

 

Can the EEM be ridden in rainy or cold weather?


The EEM can be ridden in the same conditions as any other urban motorcycle.

 

What kind of maintenance does the EEM require and where can it be serviced?


Standard motorcycle maintenance is required for the tires and brakes which can be performed at authorized service centers.  Service and Warranty items on the batteries and drivetrain will also be performed during these service visits.

 

Will performance upgrades be available?


Yes, performance upgrades will be announced for the EEM as new technology permits.

 

Does the EEM have a warranty?


Yes, the details of the warranty will be announced prior to availability.

 

How much does the EEM weigh?


The EEM weighs 280 pounds or 127.3 kilograms.

 

Will the EEM be street legal in all 50 states?


Yes, the EEM will be street legal.  It will be titled and registered as you would any gas-powered motorcycle.

 

What type of driver’s license will be required to ride the EEM?


A motorcycle license or endorsement will be required depending on your state’s motorcycle laws.

Are you considering using regenerative braking or solar covers to assist with battery recharging?


These options have been considered but will not be offered on the initial EEM.  The current technologies are costly and increase the range by less than 10% on a vehicle this size.  As the efficiency and cost effectiveness of these technologies improves they will be made available on the EEM.
