Designed for locations where reliable electricity is not available, the BioLet 30 NE is the perfect choice for the rustic cabin, hunting camp, or house off the grid. The BioLet 30 NE is also the perfect choice for applications supplied by solar power where the additional load of the electric models may be too much for your system. Rated at 3 people full-time use and 4 people part-time use, the 30 NE's capacity can be increased to 4 people full-time use and 6 people part-time use by adding the auxiliary 12VDC fan.

Buyer beware, not as advertised

Even with a fan, and proper venting, this unit (used occasionally by 2 people), is a BIG disappointment. The company claims it is effective for 3 people full time use. Company was no help in solving smell and lack of composting action.  A bucket would be the better value.

I have replaced the Biolet with a Sun-mar.  If you buy the non-electric Biolet you will become a poop farmer.  I do have a used one, all clean and sanitized, for sale!

Changed for Inferior Model

I was drawn to the NE model because it did not require a heating element, just a fan, was able to aerate and mix down to a compost in a second chamber, which could be safely extracted and put on the garden.

What actually came for the same price was a "Lite" version without mixing or aeration, smaller vent pipes and urine drain tube, only one chamber lined with a plastic bag.

It must have been a lot cheaper to produce, and yet was sold for the same price, and advertised as working as well as one with the correct composting components.

I really cannot see how the "30" model can work any better than a bucket and vent fan, which can be knocked up at a fraction of the price.

I do feel cheated that I was sold one thing and got another.

I have a Biolet 20 Deluxe and NOT a Biolet 30 Non-Electric version. I apologize for the mistake in posting. My Biolet 20 Deluxe is now for sale at a very reasonable price if you are looking for a used one. We are moving and don't have a suitable/useful place in our new property.

Works Great

Serves our needs perfectly for our vacation home. This unit does not need electricity either, which is a huge plus. No problems with any odors either. As with most composting toilets, installation is key for it to work properly. We had some issues with installing it, but the Biolet customer service helped us work out our small ventilation problem quickly.

Highly recommended.
