Dan Rojas of Green Power Science shows folks an episode of his project of making a solar collector from a used satellite dish.  It's pretty sweet.  The project isn't finished yet, but he promised some new videos once it's finished.

On the link there is a series of photos of him heating things with a large fresnel lense - wow!  I would think some industry could use that process - at home you have to be really careful with it - as it is essentially an open-air blast furnace...

Crazy and dangerous if one does not know what they are doing.

I have a 33 by 44 inch fresnel lens myself. Break out the welding goggles now, you are blinded by science!

 Actually the Fresnel lens is widely used in some concentrating solar concepts.
