Solar Power Help need!

I want to add some lighting to my back yard and pool area. The obvious is solar power. Of the solar power light systems, they either lack the light I need and/or the lights  are not esthetically pleasing.

 

Here's my thought....Could I buy "Normal" outdoor lighting set...daisy chain them to a solar collector and converter?

 

If anyone knows...I need help. The home depot dudes had no idea.

I don't see why you couldn't. You'd obviously have to have some sort of battery to store the electricity generated during the day for use in the evening and at night. And you'd probably also need a converter to turn the solar/battery power from 12v DC to 120v AC for your regular lights.

 

I'm sure there are plenty of sources online to help you DIY. Here are a few I found by googling DIY solar power:
