Sweet ride -- a unicycle.

It's a new type of commuter vehicle: an electric, two-wheeled unicycle that is controlled (like the Segway) by simply leaning (forward to accelerate, backward to brake, sideways to turn).  The current prototype maxes out at 25mph, but this would make it perfect for city commuting.  And, it looks sweet!!

Haha yeah - kind of weird but pretty cool.  I'm curious what kind of range it has and how much it would cost.  In other words, if it has any benefits over more conventional EVs.

See this link for a longer article.  Says the battery range is 2.5 hours.  Thoughts?

Well unfortunately that doesn't tell me much, because at what speed is it going if it lasts 2.5 hours?  Is it being driven the whole time?  If it were going 20 mph consistently over a 2.5 hour period, that's an impressive 50 miles.  Anyway, certainly a cool accomplishment for an 18-year-old.

What I saved in gas I would more than make up for in emergency room bills on that thing, hah.

I read about that e-unicycle a few weeks ago over at AutoblogGreen.  It's definitely an interesting concept.  We'll see if it ever gets past that phase and goes to production...even if it does...I think I might be too terrified to actually ever try riding one myself.

i don't know -- they say they use that same balance technology as the segway, which may make it a less frightening ride than we expect.  i'd definitely be curious to try it out!
