I need to buy a new pair of running shoes. Mine are wrn and I'm begining to feel it in my shins. Are there any eco-friendly running shoes you know about that you can suggest to me? I hate to order online though becuase I have a skinny foot and need a shoe that fits me just right.

OnlyGreen carries a few different brands, but unfortunately they would only be available online.

Although they made not be eco freindly on the front end, Nike will recycle your old ones. They grind them up and make them into playground material

That's cool to hear about Nike. Didn't know they did that. Patagonia has a clothing recycling program too which is awesome.

In terms of other running shoes, New Balance is a socially responsible company that makes running shoes. I think they have gotten rid of PVC in their shoes and may have a couple of vegan options. There's also Brooks Running that is doing some interesting stuff. They've got a racing shoe coming out in 2010 that's going to be biodegradable.
