So I just found out that the 2007 MINI was rated with better fuel economy than the 2006 MINI (the 2007 gets 40 MPG on the highway while the 2006 gets 36). Of course the 2008 fuel economy has dropped a bit given the change in the EPA fuel economy tests. But I thought I'd share the news about the improvements.

DETROIT: BMW AG unveiled its redesigned 2007 Mini Cooper sedans on Monday, showcasing a redesigned interior and improved fuel efficiency.
The latest generation of the small luxury cars are slightly longer but "this is hardly noticeable as it retains the familiar proportions," said Dr. Michael Ganal, member of the board of management of BMW AG.
The dashboard has a new large center speedometer and ambient interior lighting and the new Mini Cooper achieves 40 miles per gallon in highway driving. A more powerful version, the Mini Cooper S, will have a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 172 horsepower, reaching a top speed of 139 miles per hour mph (224 kilometers per hour).
